Resoland Workshop no.12 is here. Entitled “Blues on Dobro” part.1. this is the first time to discuss this topic at Resoland workshop.
Long notes, slide techniques and almost vocal-like quality of the resonator guitar makes it no.1 candidate to play the blues. Besides, blues is undoubtedly a part of bluegrass, country and jazz, so aspiring Dobro player should without discussion know it.
On this first part we’ll be dealing with form, feeling and structure of the simple blues, dominant7 chords, minor pentatonic and blues scales and also learn couple of blues songs.
The date of the workshop is November 18-20.2016
Note: due to full first date of the workshop I added a second date – November 25.-27.2016
3rd week of September I was pleased to perform with Lluís Gómez and his Barcelona Bluegrass Band at Cornish Blue Grass Festival at Newquay’s Hendra Holiday Park, Cornwall, UK. Thank you Lluís for inviting me!
We had really great time over there, enjoyed the festival and the park meeting new friends and old ones too.
Great event!
I was performing as a part of Tribute to John Dopyera at Lodenica Festival, Slovakia (25.-28.July 2016) with excellent Slovak guitar player, singer and multiinstrumentalist Peter Luha (www.peterluha.com).
The tribute was held on the 90th anniversary of the first patent of resophonic guitar invented by John Dopyera.
The other player of the Tribute were Peter “Bonzo” Radvany and Lubos Bena, Julian Socha and Peter Szabados with his band.
Here is our rendition of old Jerry Douglas tune:
In July I spent great two weeks touring Europe with Jonathah Maness and his wife Wendy Crowe Maness (WestWend) and few of my old music pals – Richard Cifersky, Anton Naroda, Juraj Chalabala and Michal Barok.
