Soundslice.com

I’m happy to introduce my new Soundslice channel to all of you, who are interested in playing the resonator guitar a.k.a. Dobro.

What is Soundslice – In short, Soundslice is a tool for an easier, faster, and more informative way to learn and practice playing a musical instrument. Instead of alternating sheet music, slow motion apps, mp3 players, YouTube videos, and tablature apps, there’s a service that combines them all – soundslice.com.

Everything on the site is based on the Soundslice player, a hybrid audio player/notation viewer that syncs notation with real audio. You can slow down, loop, change video and tablature sizes, change previews, adapt the player to your needs, and more, all from the comfort of your browser without the need to install any application or program.

My Soundslice channel contains songs from three categories – beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each category has a few songs represented so far, the number of which will grow in the future, depending on your interest.

You can find my channel at: https://www.soundslice.com/users/Resoland/
I will be grateful for your time, interest, and response. You can try the Soundslice player below.

Tennessee Waltz

The tablature and a Guitar Pro file for Tennessee Waltz were added to the store.

Tennessee Waltz – here is my dobro arrangement of a popular country song that suits the instrument well. It contains a few slant positions that require a bit of practice, but otherwise, it is a beautiful melody that needs to be played with emotion and feeling. Here it’s in the key of C

The tablature can be found on my store page and you can watch the video of myself playing it here: classroom page or on my YouTube channel.

Greensleeves

The tablature and a Guitar Pro file for Greensleves were added to the store.

Greensleeves is a traditional English song. Christmas lyrics were later associated with the song, among the others the most famous one is What Child is This. Eighter way here is my Dobro arrangement in the key of B minor and I think it suits to the tune well. Check it out and properly tune your B strings. 😜

The tablature can be found on my store page and you can watch the video of myself playing it here: classroom page or on my YouTube channel.

Faded Love

A tablature and Guitar Pro file of the famous Bob Wills tune – Faded Love was added to the store.

Faded Love-a sentimental Bob Wills song naturally suits the resonator guitar (Dobro) for its haunting melody and good playability. This is my arrangement in the key of D. I prepared it for the intermediate players, but this piece should be in the vocabulary of every Dobro player.

The tablature can be found on my store page and you can watch the video of myself playing it here:  classroom page or on my YouTube channel.

Bud’s Bounce

A tablature of Mike Auldridge’s tune – Bud’s Bounce was added to the store.

This is a country-swing tune that Mike recorded on the album “Mike Auldridge and Old Dog” released on Flying Fish label in 1978. The tune shows Mike’s excellent ability to arrange those types of not typical bluegrass Dobro material and contains many of his signature licks that became the basics of modern Dobro playing.

The tablature can be found on my store page and you can watch the video of myself playing it here:  classroom page or on my YouTube channel.

Kentucky Waltz

Kentucky Waltz – a tablature of a bluegrass classic was added to the shop. It is a song written by the father of bluegrass music – Mr. Bill Monroe. Although the former recording doesn’t have a Dobro break it’s an excellent vehicle for the Dobro playing. Here is my arrangement of this beautiful song in the key of D. It contains many forward and a few reverse slant positions, so pay attention to them and be patient. For more reference feel free to watch the video of me playing this song.

You can watch the video on my classroom page or my YouTube channel.

Musique Acoustique Workshop 2022

Hi Dobro friends,
after two years gap, there is the Musique Acoustique Workshop planned from April 4.-9.
If you are eager to learn something new or improve the old, don’t hesitate to sign up for the course. There are still a few spots open in my resonator guitar (Dobro) class.
Find more about the workshop, classes, registration od covid policy on web site of Musique Acoustique.
Lookin’ forward to seeing you there!

Old Town

A tune called Old Town was added to the shop. This is a mandolin tune written by mandolinist Butch Baldassari. I always thought this might be a good Dobro instrumental too and here is the result. The original song is in the key of E, but for the Dobro, I decided to play it in the key of D with a capo on the 2nd fret. This is a common strategy if you want to play fast licks in E and use the open strings for hammer-on and pull-offs which the key of D provides. The tuning is the standard G.

You can watch the video on my classroom page, or on my YouTube channel.
